Saffron project closing ceremony
Albacete, 22nd March 2007

Several technicians and politicians from Spain, Greece and Italy closed the project in the "Deputation of Albacete". During this ceremony they showed the situation of the saffron crop in each country as well as their future researching lines aiming to resolve the existing problems. Theses researching lines or recommendations are in the Saffron White Book.

International Workshop
San Gavino Monreale, 10th November 2006

The 10th November 2006 the presentation of the Saffron sector White Book of took place in San Gavino Monreale (Sardinia). This ceremony was attended by the authorities of San Gavino, Turri, Villanovafranca, the Government President of the region, the representants of the different saffron italian Designations of Orgigin (DO) (L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Sicilie, San Gimigiano) as well as the Greek and Spanish project partners.

Snacks with saffron
Albacete, from 18th to 24th September 2006

The population of Albacete could taste different dishes elaborated with saffron in ten well-known restaurants of the city. Consumers learned the ways of using the spice in the kitchen.

UCLM Summer course
Albacete, from 20th to 22nd September 2006

Spanish members of the Saffron project in collaboration with Castilla-La Mancha University (UCLM) organised a summer course aiming to get the saffron closer to the Castilla-La Mancha population. During the conferences, several topics like history of saffron cultivation and commercialisation, improved techniques of production as well as its use as drug, dye and pigment were discussed. Furthermore, some of the best Spanish chefs showe how they use the spice in their cooking.

Workshop
Sardinia, 9-10th February 2006

Project partners met in Sardinia (Italy) in order to discuss the 15 reports about saffron cultivation, processing, storage, quality control and commercialisation elaborated in the task 2. During this Workshop several lectures were celebrated and they were addressed to the public interested in the different saffron sectors.
